This Thursday April 16th,  6:30-7:30pm, we will having a Parking Lot Prayer Vigil at Kettering Medical Center.  We will park in the lot across Southern Blvd. from the main entrance.

We will pray for the medical staff, for defeat of this disease, for the patients at Kettering, for God's Kingdom to come.  We will do this onsite at Kettering because joining together in prayerful agreement, even while we're sitting in our cars or standing car-lengths apart, is powerful.  It will also show the staff at Kettering, who know we are coming, that we stand with them and are lifting them up.

We have spots for 100 cars.  Will you join us?  If you plan to just come yourself, or bring your family, please sign up here More instructions will follow.  If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to join us in prayer from wherever you are.

40-days of hope-SCREENS.jpg

In his book "Surprised by Hope," N.T. Wright argues that Easter ought to be 40 day celebration rather than a one-morning holiday. He says the Easter celebration ought to be “a time to balance out Lent by taking something up, some new task or venture, something wholesome and fruitful and outgoing and self-giving.”

So we want to try something. Over the next 40 days we invite you to let God hold your attention and to find ways to practice resurrection, even as we walk through suffering.

There is a range of experiences and responses we may be having to this pandemic trauma, but wherever we fall, this is undoubtedly a Significant Event in our lives. We have always taught at SouthBrook that these moments are times for God to get our attention and form us, whether they are beautiful, tragic, or some mix of the two.

So for the next 40 days, we're going to try and post prompts to stir our collective practice and imagination. We might just ask you to reflect, or to serve, or to start conversations around you. Follow our social media pages and come on this 40 days to hope journey.
